I am not an expert on coffee but I just know that I avoid Starbucks like the plague and simply buy Italian coffee and make it at home

Hi Tim -- Joe's gets their beans exclusively from the Barrington Coffee Roasting Company in regular shipments. They primarily use Barrington's Vienna roast blend from northern Panama. For more information about it, check this out:

http://www.barringtoncoffee.com/WebObjects/Merchantz.woa/wa/detail?store=1000021&item=115

The beans are not roasted on site; they are roasted about 3 hours north of the city, near the border of New York and Massachusetts.

I've never found a correlation between beans being roasted onsite and good coffee. Since the beans have to age for a few days between roasting and first use, I'm not convinced it's crucial to have the roasting done on-site. I could be wrong, just speaking from experience.

Thanks for the link to sweet marias. Some nice products on here.

I have been to Cafe Grumpy. It was my first experience with a clover machine. I find their ristretto/espresso quite tasty.

The beans also need to be fresh. Do they roast on site? And do they provide you with a date? If not, old coffee is as good old bread.

And what type of beans are being used? saying "good beans" is like saying "good red wine".

Take a look at this website: http://www.sweetmarias.com/. I think that you will enjoy it.
