Word to the wise...

"Jugoso" is actually closer in meaning to medium rare. If you want rare, you have to demand "Bien jugoso" and really stare into the waiter's eyes when you say it - otherwise he'll take no notice. If that doesn't work try "Vuelta y vuelta" (blue - alledgedly).

While I agree with some of your comments on CLL (as I definitely agree on Casa Cruz), my recent visit to CLL in March 2008 demonstrate a major deterioration there. For starters, our reserved table (for 5 at 8:30) was not available, so we were seated at a smokers' table (OK for up to 3). Our ordered bottle of wine (cheapest on the menu at 30$ remained unopened til after appetizers. The rare steaks came cold and raw and no waiter could be seen to complain to. The coffee came 45 minutes after ordering. The cost was very high for the quality (45$ per -- the cover alone is now 10$), and the service almost non-existent. What an incredible disappointment after all that hype.

I agree with Sylvia. La Cabana does for a smaller crowd what CLL would like to do for throngs of tourists.

I don't like Cabaña Las Lilas too much. One of the owners is a Brazilian restauranteur, in fact he is Spanish and had two restaurants in Sao Paulo, Rubayat and A Figueira. The cheese breads are not an Argentine treat, but a Brazilian specialty from Minas Gerais State. Next time you must try La Cabaña. Typical parrilla argentina.
