Aaron- Next time you make it in to SA, you should do a piece on Taco Taco.... you know as well as i do that the place that got the coveted Best Taco In the United States award handed out by Food Network deserves a slot of on this site :) And if you go, get me a bacon and egg!

Andrew: you're absolutely right. I think we'll try to knock out write-ups for the rest of the NYT 4* places very soon, then branch out from there. Stay tuned!

Ore: I wish my Italian were fluent, too! I try to at least maintain it while I'm here in California, but as I'm sure you know, it's not easy! I need to go back to Italy ASAP.
re: Le Calandre, your words summed up my thoughts after the meal: too bad! I feel like there was so much potential there, but overall it just wasn't a very satisfying meal. Savory zabaglione and star anise sound like flavors that would work nicely with that great veal. Passion fruit on the other hand, not so much...
And man, you have no idea how much I'd love to return to Uliassi. What a great, great meal.
I'm living in Berkeley now, but need to make it down to LA one of these days. We should get some food sometime. There's a few places down there I've been meaning to try for a while.

man...I wish my Italian was as fluent as yours - I mean, it is, but it seems like yours just came out so prefectly! I need to get some italian speaking discs or something to get back into things...

too bad he seasoned your raw beef with fruit flavors - mine was just kick ass seasoned with what i recall as a savory zabaglione & 'anice stellato' or so...

i'm going through your madonnina post now - i totally agree with Uliassi being one of the best on our planet.

Ciao Ore,
Thank you for your kind comments. The picture format is actually something Adam designed himself for this site. Wish I could tell you more, but I honestly don't understand it myself! :)
- Aaron

(A proposito, ho letto il tuo diario su eGullet trattando delle tue esperienze con Slow Food. Un bel racconto. Bravo!)
